GM and Segway get together for a city vehicle: P.U.M.A

GM and Segway are on the road to develop the next-gen city vehicle, the P.U.M.A (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility). The concept uses Segway’s dynamic stabilization technology to stay put on its two wheels, can carry two people and reach a top speed of 35mph. Safety is a major concern for this one, and GM hopes its Vehicle-to-Vehicle communication technology will help avoid nasty accidents.

The entire collision avoidance system in the P.U.M.A will be linked to a wireless device, such as a phone. The concept has place in the steering wheel to mount a phone. On a complete charge, the 300lb vehicle can run for a full hour, on its 35mph top speed.
