‘World’s largest electric truck’ from Smith Electric Vehicles comes to U.S.

Smith Electric Vehicles has stated that the company will start producing the “world’s largest electric truck” in Kansas City, Missouri. The trucks that are being developed by Smith Electric Vehicles and Ford Motor Co. will be able to haul a payload of a maximum of eight tons at a speed of 50 mph. The operating range of the trucks is about 150 miles on a single charge.

The manufacturers state that the trucks could be used for small distance transportation, which require decent sized trucks able to perform on city roads with the maximum fuel efficiency. Apart from greening the cargo industry, this new plant in Kansas City will provide 200 green collar jobs within three years, which is a welcome sign in the credit-struck economy of today
